While yes, the mauling of the author is featured in the book in great detail, what this book is about is the author's great love of nature, Kodiak bear biology and behavior. Squeamish people may skip the mauling(it's just one fifth of the book), and still enjoy the book greatly.
Author also gives| |From Alaska Dispatch.||Rogan appears to be an average Joe, which accounts for much of the charm of his book. ...Other advice in the book is equally useful. Hunt or hike with a partner. Carry a gun big enough to collapse an adrenaline-fueled brown bear,
